Generations of Knowledge
For more than 1,000 generations, Indigenous people passed along their deep knowledge of ways to harvest the forest and the sea.
Our vision for this exhibition was to open visitors’ minds to a story they may know in fragments but not as a whole. To explore traditional innovation and to reveal the people who have carried this knowledge through generations.
We take the visitor on a journey through the forest, to the ocean shore, and then out to sea.
Immense, immersive photography allows us to place visitors in the cathedral of the forest and onto the glorious ocean shore of the Pacific Northwest. Visitors also “meet” six remarkable Knowledge Givers in film portraits shot on location in Washington, Vancouver Island, British Columbia and Alaska.
