Fighting Fires and More
The new Fire Station 20, in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood, is also the greenest fire station in the region. Located on busy Western Avenue, the city saw an opportunity to raise awareness about environmental issues.
Storyline Studio worked closely with Schacht Aslani Architects, the City of Seattle Fire Department, and BBI Engineering to design a large, low-energy reader board for the street-facing facade. The sign broadcasts real-time information about the building’s energy and water conservation, along with timely messages about eco-events around the city. Additional interpretive signage around the building site turns a functional service building into a learning opportunity.
